The Television category

The 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Hollywood with the usual glitz and Glamour. Hosted by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the awards honour TV and Movie at the same time.

The Television category had stiff competition from established stalwarts such as House, Dexter, Breaking Bad competing with the young pretenders from Glee, Boardwalk Empire and the Big C.

Glee and Boardwalk Empire were the big winners in the Comedy/Musical category and the Best TV Series Drama.

The Martin Scorcese produced Boardwalk Empire with its stunning period sets, gripping storylines and ensemble cast headed by the mercurial Steve Buscemi ( finally getting the role he deserves) got the recognition.

Gleeks everywhere can rejoice that their series has won the Golden Globe with Chris Colfer collecting the best supporting actor in a TV series award.

THE YEAR IN TELEVISION

From the amazing true stories of Temple Grandin, Carlos the jackal and the controversial Jack Kevorkian to the phenomenal success that is Glee this years TV has provided some brilliant stories, delightful entertainment and gripping drama.

apart from my regular favourites Mentalist, True Blood, Lie to Me and Dexter, this year has brought more must see Telly. There is just not enough time in the day!

My favourite this year has to be Boardwalk Empire with its 1920s glamour, the gangsters and their molls and the decadence of prohibition era Atlantic City.

I love to watch Glee with my 9 year old daughter and the sheer hummability of the songs and the wonderful cast make it a guilty treat.

I am yet to catch Carlos and Temple Grandin but no doubt I will watch out for the DVD or Blu-ray.

So enjoy the winners and don't forget the nominees, for the quality is very high as TV goes from strength to strength.

Hi Docmo-well, first - great coverage; you listed everything, and with great photos. Second, I did see, and actually own, the DVD on Temple Grandin. In fact, I wrote a hub about it and I ALMOST wrote a hub about the G.G. Awards to link it back into mine. Reason: I was so impressed with this woman's story and the movie that I wanted another opportunity to remind people to watch it. It's a wonderful story of human endurance and perseverance in developing one's potential.

I'm not familiar with Boardwalk Empire, but it will check it out. As for 'Jack'...well did you know he was a resident in a neighboring suburb of Michigan when I was living there. I followed his case with great interest.

Thanks Denise, I read your hub on Temple Grandin and I would like to watch that film. IT was lovely to see Temple Grandin herself sitting at the table with Clare Danes and when the latter won the golden Globe she got the biggest hug from Temple! BTW can I officially link to your hub ( re: Temple Grandin) and you to to this one from your article?
